Danno Habano 2015
Editor’s Note: Each week, our friends at the Smooth Draws Radio Show, based in Atlanta, GA, do a review of ‘The Cigar of the Week’ on their radio show, which can be heard Saturday mornings on AM1230 ESPN the Fan 2 (WFOM radio) from 10AM to Noon. That review is printed (in its entirety) here on Cigarweekly.com, usually on the Monday following its broadcast.

THE CIGAR
For the ‘Premium Cigars of Georgia’ cigar review of the week, we’re assessing the 2015 Danno Habano, one of the three One Life Editions from the Nestor Miranda Collection.
BACK STORY
The Danno Habano was released at a series of cigar shop events in June of 2015, and has a two-part back story. In 2008, the son of Nestor Miranda, Daniel ‘Danno’ Miranda, passed away after losing his battle with brain cancer. He was just 38 years old, and the Vice President and Director of Marketing for Miami Cigar and Company.
The second part of this back story occurs with the 20th-Anniversary of Miami Cigars, which took place in 2009. Miami Cigars celebrated the company’s twenty years and the life of Daniel with a new cigar, the Danno – a limited edition issue.
Then, in 2014, the company overhauled its lines and carried out some rebranding for the company’s 25th-Anniversary. The Danno was re-released as a limited edition in three wrapper options – a Connecticut, a Habano and a Maduro. All of these versions were formatted as Churchill Gordo vitolas (measuring 7 inches long by a 56 ring gauge).
THE CONSTRUCTION
The 2015 Danno Habano is produced for Miami Cigar at the My Father Cigars S.A. Factory in Nicaragua. It incorporates a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper that has a medium brown hue and is oily to the touch. The binder is a Nicaraguan Criollo ’98, and the fillers combine Brazilian, Honduran and Nicaraguan leaves.
The construction of the cigar is exactly what you would expect from the My Fathers Factory – perfect! The Danno Habano comes topped with twisted cap, and is available in boxes of 20 cigars each. Only 1,000 boxes have been produced for the 2015 version.
THE DRAW
We found that the Danno started out with a tight draw. But after the cigar warmed up, the draw became much easier – to the point of producing big mouthfuls of white tasty smoke.
THE CIGAR TASTE PROFILE
The Danno was a medium to full-bodied smoke. We found it to be quite complex, displaying multiple nuances of interesting flavors. We tasted woody cedar along with earthiness and white pepper notes. Hints of chocolate and espresso coffee were present even as the sweet spiciness of an apple carrot cake played with our senses.
DOES IT GET A BUY RECOMMENDATION?
